SAIPEM BIGFOOT PIPELINE INITIATION PILE
The Bigfoot TLP (Chevron) export lines were installed by Saipem using the newly constructed Castorone pipelay vessel. The project required the first end SCR installation to start in the deepwater location and lay back to the facility.
The deepwater start-up location required several unique aspects of the pipeline installation operations. Using a traditional deadman anchor in such deepwater proves challenging and adds complexity and cost to the installation. The use of a suction pile start-up enabled a precise placement for the start-up connection, minimizing technical challenges while providing a cost effective solution.
